Video 1 – Basement Rim Joist: Missed Air Sealing

This video shows one of several basement rim joist locations where the spray foam installer missed portions of the sill plate and the joint between the plate and the top of the foundation wall. These are critical air-sealing locations that need to be sealed continuously.

Cobwebs were observed in some of these areas and may indicate air movement, although they alone do not confirm leakage. Corrections at all affected locations will be included in our insulation scope.

Video 2 – Additional rim joist air-sealing gaps: Spray foam is missing at portions of the rim joist, sill plate, and the joint between the foundation wall and sill plate. These areas need to be insulated and sealed to provide a continuous air barrier and reduce air infiltration.

Video 3 – Missing insulation at skylight

Spray foam is missing from the cavity between the skylight framing members and from the gap between the skylight unit and the surrounding wood framing. These areas need insulation and air sealing to complete the thermal and air barrier around the skylight.

Video 4 – Basement Rim Joist: Missed Air Sealing

The following video shows framing cavities and sill plate areas with missing spray foam and no air sealing. Other areas have spray foam that is thinner than specified.

These areas need to be air sealed and insulated, with additional foam applied where thickness is insufficient. Our recommendation is a minimum of R-30 for roof systems in our climate zone, subject to any higher project or applicable code requirements..

Video 5 – Basement Rim Joist: Missed Air Sealing

Crawl Space Inspection — Video: 1

The video documents spray foam installed at the crawl space ceiling and closed-cell spray foam installed on the foundation walls.

  • Rim joists: Closed-cell foam appears thin in several areas. We recommend a minimum thickness of 2 inches at these locations.

  • Missing insulation: Rim joist cavities and portions of the sill plate need additional insulation and air sealing.

  • Limited access: Ductwork appears to have restricted installation access, leaving areas behind it that require further attention.

  • Foam finish: Trim uneven or excess foam to create clean, finished edges while maintaining the required insulation thickness.

  • Cleanup: Insects, dust, and debris were observed. Clean and vacuum the crawl space and disinfect targeted areas where appropriate.

Repair work should address the visible gaps and accessible areas behind the ductwork to provide continuous insulation and air sealing.
